Q: 8 weeks postpartum, pregnant while on Mini Pill or IUD?!

My husband & I were very honest with ourselves &our doc about not waiting til 6 weeks postpartum to have intercourse, so I went on the mini pill asap, & then 7 weeks postpartum I had an IUD put in. I went with Skyla because it has less hormones in it. I was diligent with the mini pill, I know I took it every night at the same time of night...However, I've been having dreams about being pregnant again, which I don't put much stock in, it just freaked me out. this morning I got sick & ended up throwing up in the sink. It was EXACTLY like the morning sickness I had in both pregnancies. ............

I am currently pregnant and got pregnant while nursing and using the mini pill but my daughter was 8months old when I conceived and I am one of the luck gals that get her period back at 3 months dispute exclusive breastfeeding on demand. I have had two vaginal births with stitches so I waited the 6 weeks but then I don't physically feel up to it until after that, the mind is willing the body is weak lo you just have to listen to your body, two days or 2 months whatever it needs, plus there is more to sex then penetration after all ð??? If I remember its highly unusual to actually ovulate in the first 6wks after birth especially if breastfeeding, but you can still have a annovulatory (no ovulation) cycles where you get a period. If not exclusively breastfeeding anytime after 10weeks is fair fame since 80% of women have a period by then though they might not have ovulated but better safe than sorry ð??? try not to stress odds are in your favor ð??? best wished to you!

I have never waited 6 weeks before having sex after any of my children; I actually think it's a ridiculous concept! More power to those who choose to, to each their own, but seriously!?!? Don't let anyone make you feel bad about doing that, it's a personal decision.

I had 2 sections and we were intimate before 6 weeks too, so you shouldn't feel bad about it. It is just a guideline. You know your body best. About 6 months pp, I had vivid dreams I was preggo and I have an IUD. I tested and convinced myself it was positive. My blood test revealed I wasn't preggo. I think it was definitely hormones!

Mrs. Mom, it wasn't my first c-section. I know what recovery is like and knew I would feel back to normal before 6 weeks. We talked to my doctor about it before we even had our baby, and his advice was NOT to just wait the 6 weeks just because that's what they tell everyone, but to decide when I thought my body was ready, since everyone recovers at a different pace, and take it easier if I had any more soreness or increased bleeding.

Seems strange you KNEW you wanted to have sex before the recommended wait period for proper recovery. On top of that, you were having sex knowing you really didn't want to get pregnant so soon. I looked at your profile and it says you had a c-section. So ...I guess my question is...why couldn't you just wait 6 weeks for a proper/healthy recovery? Not only for you but for the health of your next child.

Thanks for replying! I took a test last night and it was negative. I'm hoping that all this is just from changing hormones or something lol. I'll be taking another test in a couple days. Between breastfeeding and the IUD I may not have a period to wait for

My best friend is pregnant with her fourth right now. She was on the mini-pill and was breast feeding exclusively when she got pregnant. She had one day where she took the mini-pill three hours later than normal. Bam. It is definitely possible - and not at all uncommon.

It wasn't like I was dwelling on the dreams. This was out of the blue. I'm going to get a test tonight, but I figured I'd ask you ladies. Any experiences with getting preggo while on BC? Or anyone have morning sickness AFTER they weren't pregnant anymore? lol I'm 8 weeks postpartum now. I am NOT ready to have a 3rd kid...but more than anything I just want to know so I can get this IUD out for a healthy baby. Thanks
