Q: 2hrs away from own hospital @ 39wks

Hubby works in London and they have decided to do a 'bring you child to work day' for Christmas eve, I have been invited to come too but I'm really unsure as I'll be 2 days from 39weeks.
it's a 2 hr train and subway journey from not only my hospital (although one of the best London childrens hospitals is just next door) but anyone who could take my son if I was to go into labour.
It would be great fun but I'm really not sure what to think/do.
What would you do?

Not an answer but your question reminded me of when I was pregnant with my 1st and living near Cambridge. I was terrified to go to London in the end for the same reason, those 2 hour train rides! Then right after he was born, of course we had to take our fam to see the sites and omg, taking our stroller up and down all those stairs and escalators in the stations was exhausting! Yet, I miss England so much!!

You might already have the baby by then, so I'd probably just wait and see! You might not feel like taking a car ride that long anyways. I wouldn't commit to it...

I would personally go if I felt well enough. Knowing there is a hospital nearby is an emergency pops up, this will probably be the last time your family of three goes out. Enjoy it ;)

No obligation to go and no commitment which is great. Just not sure if it was a silly idea to even contemplate travel at that stage.

Do you need to make a decision now or can you make the call the day of or the day before? If you can, I'd hold off on RSVP'ing until the last minute, just in case!
