Q: How often are midwife appointments from 28 weeks?

I just checked my midwife's schedule pertaining to check-ups from 28 weeks. The visits become every two weeks and then from 37 weeks every week.

Is this normal across? What does she do at these biweekly and weekly check-ups at that stage?

I can't remember with my first...but then with him I was seeing an OBGYN.

I reckon it's much the same reasons as the UK final stretch. I'm on every fortnight at the moment starting this week (although I'm having them with the dr).
Its because you are more prone to Pre eclampsia, GD, bad rashes and other issues that you may not notice until it gets too bad. Also this is when baby is chubbing out so they want to make sure the growth rate is watched, making sure baby is and stays head down too. Keeping you alert to changes in your body to better monitor baby and keep an eye out for pre term labour signs.
Plus they will be reassuring you and getting you geared up for delivery with its many many choices.
Basically as you near the big day they want to keep a closer eye on you x
