Q: Has anyone experienced this at 5 weeks and 4 days? Had an ultrasound but didn't see anything

Hi, I'm Analie and I'm new here. I'm expecting my third and I just had a question. Just a bit of a background, I was expecting my monthly visit to come November 18 because I'm always a week late after my last period. LMP was October 13. SO Nov. 18 my period didnt come. But I've been actually feeling under the weather and thinking something is wrong with me. I feel very tired and always very sleepy. So out of nowhere I thought why not buy a PT since I ran out of it already and then by the 19th using early morning urine I tested and I was so surprised that I got a faint positive. I couldn't believe it because we've been trying for more than a year already and nothing. The next day the 20th I also did another PT and it was still a faint positive. I decided to go to the OB to make sure. This OB I went to already has a sonogram in her clinic and she operates and reads them herself. Based on my LMP I would have been 5 weeks and 4 days already. It is possible too that your ovulation was much later than the typical 14 days average. So if your cycles are oong and you dont ovulate until lets say after day 21 then you wouldnt actually be 5 weeks. I can never go by my last menstrual period to date my pregnancies because i ovulate around day 30 when most women would have been late for their period. So if you ovulate on day 30 you then have the wait time until the eggs travels down to the uterus and then the time it takes for it to implant and the time it takes after implantation for hcg to build up in the system so that an hpt can detect it. So it is possible to have an hpt show up positive but still be only 3 weeks pregnant not 5. Just see if you can pinpoint ovulation and go from there. If you had any fertility signs or changes in cm, ovulation pain etc That might give you an idea of whether you ovulated later in your cycle.

My doctor would never do a sonogram before 6 weeks because of not being able to see much. Did they spot a gestational sac? I wouldn't fret, I would wait another couple weeks and have another one done, maybe even next week.

It is crazy how fast they grow. I had my 1st one at 6 weeks and it was so tiny and barley even noticeable, then at 7 weeks it looked like a gummy bear... I have my pictures on my page so you can see the difference one week can make!!
