The doctor is looking for you levels to keep dropping back to non-pregnant levels to signal that all tissues have been reabsorbed so that you don't have to have surgery. After a pregnancy has ended all the relevant tissue must be removed or reabsorbed or it can continue to grow and produce hcg but it isn't actually a pregnancy but out of control tissue that must be removed. As for your fertility, it depends on a few factors but statistically, 9 out of 10 women will have a normal pregnancy after a ectopic and 6 out of 10 women who have a ectopic pregnancy are pregnant again within 18 months with successful outcomes.

Try not to stress, people don't realize just how complicated pregnancy actually is, a lot of things have to go just right for it to be successful. I have had two miscarriages and it's hard, I know. Talk to your doctor about your concerns, they know your situation and odds. Best of luck

It took me 3 months for my HcG to return to normal. It can be a slow process, especially for those women who wish to start TTC again. There aren't any textbook numbers to look at when comparing ectopic/MC or any pregnancy loss. Like first comment states, as long as you are dropping you are normal. Best wishes!
