Q: Contractions or poop cramps?

IM only 24 weeks with my second baby and I'm having terrible cramps. You'd think because I've been through this i would know what a contraction feels like but when I had my first son I felt like I was going to poop when it was really Labor so now I'm concerned. I'm having bad tightening cramps every 10 min or so around my lower stomach and in my back - it feels like contractions but I'm also gassy so im wondering if it's just gas?! Or constipation? I know it's better safe than sorry but before I call the doctor has anyone else experienced this... Also when I lay down on my side the cramps go away.

Sounds like Braxton Hicks. Stay Hydrated... Like 2 liters of water a day. I was dehydrated at 30 weeks after getting over bronchitis that I literally started having actual Labor Contractions (5 and 6 minutes apart each one lasting over a minute). It is NO JOKE. Stay hydrated and relax with feet up when you can.

As PP said it could be braxton hicks. How is your fluid intake? Keeping well hydrated might help - both for the braxton hicks and for the constipation. Good luck!

It could be braxton hicks contractions but if your that concerned I would call your doctor. Last thing you want at this stage is pre term labour especially if it's regular and 10mins apart it could be.
