Q: Fetal heart Doppler brand

Which brand of fetal heart dopplers have you used? When was the earliest you heard the heartbeat with one? We had an appt today, 10w6d and we got to hear the heartbeat and so know I'm looking into them!

I also have a Sonoline B and I love it. This time around I found baby's heartbeat at just 8 weeks - with an anterior placenta! I highly recommend it.

We got this one! We got it on Monday at 10 weeks 4 days and we were able to hear the heartbeat! I watched some video reviews on youtube of some and decided this was best for the money. Good luck!

I have a sonoline b. It was about $45 on ebay and is the best $45 I have ever spent!! So reassuring to be able to hear the heartbeat whenever you want. I started using it around 13 weeks and found the heartbeat within a couple minutes. Early on it was a little difficult to find some days depending on how the baby was positioned. From about 15 weeks and on I have been able to find the heartbeat within seconds. I got to be a pro at using the Doppler, baby's heartbeat got much louder and stronger and I started to learn where the baby liked to hang out. I found that the sonoline b is very accurate when displaying the average beats per minute, it's usually within 1-2 bpm of what the ultrasound machine calculates. You just have to be patient and wait for baby to be still and the Doppler to be centered right over baby's heart and keep the wand very still for a few seconds for it to give you a good reading.

I got a cheapie model off of ebay. It was a knock-off of Angel Sounds or Angel Wings or something like that...it only cost me $30, it works great, I heard the heartbeat at about 11 1/2 weeks which was the day I got it in the mail. I personally don't trust the digital reading any machine gives. The best way to do it is to listen and count while using a stop-watch set for 15 seconds. Count the amount of heartbeats that you hear in 15 seconds, and then times that number by 4, and you will get your heart beats per minute rate. They're a lot of fun, and you don't have to spend a ton to find one that works. Mine works great and I count the heartbeats and come up with my own accurate hbpm count. I'd shop on ebay. You can find some for $20-$30 or if you want you can spend up to $100, I guess it's just a question of what you are willing to spend. My deciding factor was "hey, if I can hear a heartbeat, I can count a heartbeat and figure out the hbpm myself. Happy shopping!
