Q: Anterior placenta.

I had an ultrasound today and the tech said my placenta was anterior. she said this was perfectly fine, but it could take longer to feel the baby move. Have any of you experienced this? What are your stories?

im 20wks now and my doctor just told me i have an anterior placenta. i dont really get it tho because on the ultrasound, the baby was laying right across my cervix and the placenta was above him/her.. regardless, i also felt movement (popping sensations) around 16wks with this little one. as of right now, i dont feel a whole lot besides the occasional kick and lots of wiggling and squirming. i can also relate to the feeling the movement on my sides, idk how to explain it tho. i also believe i dont feel a whole lot of movement because i have a very inactive little one. don't fret too much tho, apparently your placenta may still move to a posterior position yet.

I have an anterior placenta as well. :)

I felt her move for the first time around 16 weeks, but only really really low down (like right above my pubic bone). It was like light fluttering. That's the only real movement I felt for a long time until 20+ weeks - and even then it was mostly on the sides of my belly and lower down. I'm 31 weeks now and still don't feel a whole lot in the middle of my belly (where the placenta is) - but I can SEE the movement there. It's an odd sensation.

Hubby didn't feel her move until 24 weeks.

My current pregnancy the placenta is anterior but I still feel alot of movement however some in the front possibly not as strong but it is around sides if that makes sense. Also they can move so every chance you will still feel the same movements etc

My pregnancy with an anterior placenta made is so that it was harder for me to feel movements and kicks. However, I could definitely feel them with my hand. I think it varies from person to person honestly.

I had an anterior placenta and it did not affect movement or make it hard to hear the heartbeat. I actually felt movement sooner than with my first 2 pregnancies, I felt flutters from 14 weeks 4 days and kicks by 18 weeks.

I agree with the other ladies. I also have an anterior placenta, but still felt movements at 14 weeks they just weren't real strong. I am 22w 3d now and you can still tell that the kicks are muffled in the front but I can feel stronger ones on the side and low down (she is also breech). I have also just recently been able to see her kicks on the outside! :)

Yes it does take a lot longer due to it acting as a shock absorba. My first I felt at 23w and this one at 20w

I personally haven't seen much of a difference between a posterior and an anterior placenta except the kicks were "muffled" for a bit longer with the anterior placenta. I still started feeling "bubbles" at 14 weeks and by 18 weeks they were regular, full-blown kicks. I'm on the petite side though, so that might make a difference.

Im 32 weeks on Thursday and my doc says iv an anterior placenta also. I know how ye girls both feel. After week 29 i started to feel the kicks less but this week they seem to be back again. It can be worrying not feeling baby move. But i just turn on my side and tap me tummy a few times and it seems to work.Things start to run through your mind. But it will all be worth it when we see our little bundles .
