Q: Going into early labour if this is NOT your first baby. Calling Mums who have had 2 babies +

Hi ladies: I hear mixed measures. My first I went into natural labour at 41+3. They are not allowing that to happen this time. I nearly died with her and for medical reasons I have an induction booked for 27dsys away. I'll be 39+3.
My question is..... Do you normally go earlier when it's not a 1st baby and your body knows what to do. I'm praying I go early so I don't have to be induced in 27 days. Hoping for a natural labour around 38-39w
Any thoughts or advise :-)

I can't really answer your question, but I just want to interject for a moment and say that castor oil is /not/ safe. Yes, having diarrhea will probably cause contractions... but it will also cause you to get dehydrated verrrry quickly which is not good for you or baby.

Anyway, hopefully you will go earlier =) I can't imagine how hard it is to wait so long! The end is the hardest part for sure. My friends all had different results as far as the second babies. Some of them, their second babies came earlier... and some of them, their second babies were overdue same as the first ones. Doesn't seem like there's much rhyme or reason to it unfortunately.

Yes I can't do castor oil I would vomit. But I will get a stretch & sweep done at my 38w appt which is at 37+6. However I had 4 done with my first and they didn't work. Hoping it may this time being no:2. We'll see. Thanks ladies x

I did the castor oil for my first pregnancy. It was the nastiest thing I ever did... But as they say, an upset tummy will make an upset uterus. After sitting on the toilet for 2 hours, I started to feel contractions. That morning I also went in for a stretch and sweep. I too did not want to be induced. So if u get close to your induction date, there is no harm in trying the castor oil. (note: you need to drink a lot... I think I did 4 tablespoons every hour for 3 hours... but don't quote me). Now to answer ur question, the second was earlier. Two days before my due date. So I wouldn't be too concerned with the second one coming as late as the first... Although 39 weeks is quite a bit earlier than 41... You have nothing to lose trying different methods like castor oil. Pray it comes early!

At school I asked some moms about your question. They told me to walk and walk a lot. Some said they tried castor oil and made them go to labor. I have never tried it so I don't if it works, maybe you could do a research about it. I also have heard evening primerose oil helps.

I'm not sure about the earlier part but the second time is usually faster and easier. With my first I was 41+5 and my second 41+2 , with my first I was in labor for 2 days and my second for 10 hrs but it was way easier than my first. So good luck and don't worry your doctor knows what's best.
