Q: Nervous Wreck.

So its 3am here and Im up the wall with worry.
Iv been awake about a half hour and baby has not kicked. All day he has been like a jumping jack but now when i tap my tummy like i usually do to wake him - theres not a movement. To be honest i think im been paranoid. I feel as my due date is fast approaching I feel paranoid about every little thing. All i want to do is hold my little man . The time is dragging . Has anyone else ever felt like this ?

The whole. "Kick counting" thing is ridiculous and causes nothing but worry. There were entire days where I felt no movement then the next day things would be back to normal. I never had the movement you're told you're supposed to have and my upfront no BS OBGYN told me not to worry. I never did either. Sometimes baby is just relaxing or less jumpy and that could last all day.

I am the same way, I am 25 weeks with my little boy and anytime he is still for more then a little while, I get nervous and sit still until he starts moving again. I can't wait until he is here and I can physically see him breathing when he is asleep.

Oh that's good. :-) no scan are not that accurate they can be out a few days but the measurements should give you an idea of what he is weighing ie: how many pounds he is. It's all the have to go by with the gestational diabeties and then a physical exam where they measure your tummy with the tape measure and have a good feel.
Try the freezing water thing next time he's not moving as much as you would like :-)

After about a half hour he eventually started kicking. But i think your right they do have quite days. I usually get them one day a week now. Im not back in clinic until the 13th. Have a growth scan next week to see the estimated size of him. Are those scans usually accurate? I hope your keeping well. You must be soooo excited now

Try drinking some freezing cold water and lying on your left side. Any lack of movement at this stage you should report to your midwife specially with your GD and oversized Bub. Remember they do have quiter days though. My girl has been like beating me up all day everydays this last week in the 36th week. She's a bit quiter today and only pushing me occasionally. Call your midwife or OB and theyll probably get you in and run the Doppler over. You should be on weekly appts now are you?. Try the water. :-)
