Q: Split sac

I went to my clinic appt. Today they gave me an ultrasound and said they seen what looks like a split sac.. When I asked them what that meant? They just said that they would check again in 2 weeks.. What does split sac mean? What is it? Is it bad?

I don't have a picture yet I get another ultrasound in about 2 weeks.. I will post whatever they see lol.wish meluck. Thank you ladies for the respon

It sounds like they think you could possibly have identical twins. When the egg splits, the twins will either share a sac or each have their own, depending how early the egg split. Identical twins can be a very high risk pregnancy, depending on if the babies share a sac or not. I was pregnant with identical twins that shared a sac, the most risky type of twin pregnancy, but I lost them at 18 weeks.

5 weeks is really early to tell, so you will know more at your next u/s. Do you have a picture?
