Q: Back pain and cramping

I am 36+3. I woke up at 4:30 this morning with what felt like really bad period cramps in pelvis and back. Now, 8 hrs later still having bad cramping/burning feeling in back and a little in abdomen. No contractions that I can tell. I had a UTI last week, but finished the antibiotic today. At my appt yesterday, baby weighed approximately 7 lbs 1 oz but his head was so far down that they couldn't get a measurement of his head. I've also had 5 bowel movements since yesterday. My cramping doesn't seem to get worse, but isn't getting better either. Feels the same whether sitting, walking, lying down. Constant cramping. Could this be labor/ back labor? Should I wait it out? Haven't passed mucous plug yet.

Well, I went to the hospital. I am having contractions every 2 to 8 minutes, but they are mild. Cervix is still closed. They sent me home and told me when the contractions intensify to "stop me in my tracks" to come back.

Definitely call your doctor. Could be labor. Some women don't pass the plug til they are dilated further.
