Q: Veteran Moms! Need advice on supplies

I am delivering at a Birthing Center that is 1 1/2 hours away from home. If my water breaks before we get there, what should I use in the car to keep the seat from getting messy? (Will a thick pad and a towel be enough?) Also, what should I have at home as far as pads, sheet protectors for the bleeding that comes post delivery? I would appreciate any suggestions its so overwhelming trying to make sure you are prepared without spending a ton of money on stuff you won't really need.

Wce delivered our first in a birthing center 2 hours away. Well be doing the same for this second.

It's not incredibly likely your water will break and be leaking before you head to your center, but if so, getting some Chux pads or towels (hit up thrift stores for the towels).

As for postpartum bed care, probably nothing. It was like a super heavy period for me and I just used big overnight pads. I have a friend who used depends and loved them. I'd suggest making some of the pads into soothing ones (recipes can be found online) as those will be great.

Depending on how your labor is and your midwife's suggestion of driving to the center, if you're comfortable, I'd suggest lying down in the backseat of the car during the drive. I did that and was pretty comfortable and could rest a bit between contractions during the drive. Your midwife might tell you that sometimes driving can slow labor a bit or speed it up, but more than likely you won't have any issue.

Feel free

My postpartum bleeding was like a heavy period. Not necessary to have anything special on the bed to protect the sheets. Just wear the big pads!
I don't have experience with the water breaking, I was already admitted to the hospital and they broke mine once I hit 7cm. I do know that they had what's like puppy training pads underneathe me and they changed it like 4 or 5 times lol.
