It's weird seeing this questions because this exact same thing happened to me yesterday morning. Left back side into front side. It hurt more when trying to go but after I went the pain went away.

I agree, let you OB or Midwife know about the pain. They should be able to prescribe you stool softeners which should help relieve the pain. Other than that, they will probably advice you to eat more fiber and drink more water to see if that helps too.

I experience this when I am not pregnant due to constipation. It only became worse when I got pregnant. Your descending and sigmoid colon are located in the left side of your abdomen. This is the section of your colon located right before the rectum and when you get backed up it can become very distended and tender.
I am not a doctor but I think your pain is just due to you being constipated. However, I would say that if the pain becomes worse or unbearable it can't hurt to mention it to your OB/midwife incase it is something else.
