As tmhess said, I am one of the ladies that had spotting/bleeding from ~12 weeks through ~15 weeks. One time I woke up to actual clots. Everything is OK for baby so far and bleeding has stopped (knock on wood). I think bleeding/spotting during pregnancy is much more common than we think. Good luck to you!

Paperheart makes a good point. I spotted after every pelvic exam in my first trimester. It would start red or pink and turn brown as the day went on.

Did you receive a vaginal u/s or exam at the hospital? The cervix is so engorged with blood during pregnancy that things like exams and even sex can cause spotting.

Sorry are you going through this. :( Spotting can be completely normal, I spotted and had heavy bleeding off and on through my whole first trimester and everything turned out ok. I know a few other ladies on this site have been dealing with spotting and bleeding as well and everything is going ok for them. With that said, I would definitely let your OB/midwife know so they can check it out. Fingers crossed that everything is ok!

Thank you tmhess for your help, it really eased my mind... Only problem is that I started spotting pinkish this aternoon but only when I wipe no cramping or discomfort though. So I'm putting my self on bed rest and if it continues I'm just going to call my on early am to get seen.

It is normal for the fetal heart rate to start dropping at or around 10- 11 weeks. It starts out very slow and then it will jump pretty high between 8-10 weeks. After that it starts dropping until it reaches about 130 around term. With that said, all babies are different and it also depends on what the baby was doing when they checked the heart rate. Just like with us, if they are sleeping the resting heartrate will tend to be lower. If they are squirming around it will tend to be higher.
By 12 weeks anything between 120 and 180 is considered "normal".
I think as long as the doctor didn't see a problem with your baby's heartrate it is probably in the "normal" range. There is a nice chart here on this site that shows the change

Also, if it helps, you can also check out the heart rate chart on my profile if you want. You can see the heart rate dropping over time for my baby.
