Q: Am I almost there?

We are almost 38 weeks and my belly has started to lower. Not a whole lot, but 5 random people mentioned to me how they think it's getting lower. Then I've been having menstrual cramps off and on and then when I woke up this morning it felt like i had been punched really hard on my vagina. Did any of you experience this? I know everyone is different, but how soon after did you go into labor? I am just done. He was measuring 40w2d 3 weeks ago and my uterus was measuring 5 weeks ahead this past Monday. On Monday my ob said I hadn't started to dilate, but that my cervix was super soft and it would only be a matter of time probably. Thoughts please???

I've been having the same aching feeling like my period is coming and pain in my vagina for a couple weeks now. I'll be 38 weeks on Tuesday. My fear is I will continue on like this for another 2 weeks but every day I hope I'm going to go into labour. I'm so ready to have this baby!! I get my first cervix check at my OB appt this Thursday. Hoping for some dilation! Good luck to you!

My dh and I used the old bd trick to help with labor, too. My ob stripped my membranes and my water broke less than 48 hours later. I don't know if you've got other dc, but I can tell you that I've labored induced and I've gone into labor on my own and the difference in labor without Pitocin is so very worth the wait, in my opinion. I'd scheduled my induction with my second for the coming Sunday, but thankfully went into labor on my own the Tuesday before. Knowing what I know now, I will definitely be toughing out the final hard weeks of pregnancy in order to have an easier labor. That's just my opinion and totally not what you asked, but just hopefully giving you a little light at the end of the tunnel.

I remember feeling like I had dropped at 39 weeks. She was born almost 2 weeks late. With my son I dropped around 37 weeks and he was born 2 days early. That was the WORST 3 weeks of my life. I have so low and made my hips hurt soo bad. Then with my 3rd I could tell I had not dropped yet and people would say it all the time. I had only dilated 2cm but he was not engaged at all. Which made me think great i'll be pregnant for another week. He was due on a Thursday and that Saturday me and my DS baby danced a couple times and sure enough my water broke and by the time I got to the hospital I was 7cm. So it could happen any day. We heard baby dancing helps because there's something in the sperm that helps women dilate and it worked!!!
