I have the same, it can be really painful at times.... I tried to sleep with a pillow between my knees, but it didn't work too well. What has been working for me, though, is to place one leg in front of the other - so right leg in front of left leg when I'm lying on my left - which rocks my hips forward a little and takes the pressure off. I've been sleeping through the night most nights since I started sleeping this way. The other nights are when I wake up needing to pee :-)

The only thing that helped me was nightly hip/hamstring stretching yoga and a maternity SI LOC. It is a two part belt you wear. It is different from what you get at a maternity store. Those are typically for back pain due to the weight of your belly. The SI LOC holds your pelvis in place. I got mine from Amazon for $40. If you order one, make sure you measure the way they suggested. I am a 10 or 12 pant size and was a S/M size in the SI LOC.
It was recommended to me by a physical therapist. They suggested I wear it all the time but I find it most helpful when I'm actually hurting. It doesn't seem to prevent pain for me but does alleviate it once it has already started.

Thanks for all the advice ladies! We still have 7 weeks to go so if I can find something that works that would be great! We do have a really nice memory foam mattress but I think I will try putting another layer/pillow under my hip tonight and see how it goes. I already sleep propped up with two pillows so I can breathe. Hopefully another layer under me will do the trick!

I've had this with my last 3 pregnancies and expect it again with my 4th. I bought the boppy body pillow and usually use one between my legs and the other under my hip. I sleep a little more propped up. You could use a regular pillow and put it under your hip or your lower back and elevate yourself a little. I would also stretch with side lunges. Caring a baby is hard. And your hips need a little physical therapy. Also try a heating pad before bed. Hope this helps.

Yay I'm not the only one! Hip pain, back pain......any other pain you can think of has been driving me nuts at night in bed. The amount of pillows I have in various places is mad and having to move then all when I turn is annoying.

I don't have hip pain (yet at least) but I do have a bad back and memory foam helps me. I have a memory foam mattress but they have memory foam pillows and other padding you can get for your bed without having to break the bank!

I have a pillow that has gone kind of flat but is still cushy enough and I stuff it under my hip. It doesn't make all the pain go away but it makes it tolerable enough to sleep. I also have a body pillow that I tuck between my knees and prop my belly on, which seems to help take some of the pressure off of my hip. If it's REALLY bad, I take a Tylenol to help take the edge off, although I try to avoid that as much as possible.
I hope you find some relief soon!

Don't really have an answer for you but the same thing has been happening to me. I woke up the other night from a dead sleep because the hip I was laying on hurt so bad. What a pain!
