Q: 7weeks 2 days measuring small...

Just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience, if you could please share the outcome, good or bad.

I conceived via IVF/ICSI so I am certain of my dates. Last week at 6 weeks 1 day I had an ultrasound and measured 2 days small and heart beat was 109bpm. Dr did not seem very concerned but had me back this week.

Yesterday at 7 weeks 2 days i was measuring 6 days behind. Heartbeat was excellent at 138 bpm and Dr said my yolk sac was the proper size.

Dr seems to think it's 50/50 at this point if baby will catch up or give up.

I wasn't IVF but, at our six week ultrasound, our girl was measuring two days behind. At our ten week ultrasound, she had caught up perfectly so just keep praying for baby and trust your body to do what is best for you. Good luck!

I just had my ivf baby 2 months ago! She was always measuring a bit ahead, and was born a week early which surprised me because I knew the exact hour even of the embryo transfer. There was also a 2nd gestational sac with yolk sac that measured way behind at the 6 week mark, only 4 weeks, but also didn't have a heartbeat. That one gave up by the 7 week ultrasound. The fact that baby has a heartbeat and that it is increasing is a very promising sign! My doctor said once there is a heartbeat the chance of success goes up. Even if you are sure of dates, with ivf there can still be variation. The embryo still has to implant on its own and that could take just hours or a couple days. Also, when the tech/doctor is measuring something the size of a seasame seed or so being off just millimeters with that cursor on the screen can mean a difference of days in the estimation.

It is still early to say. I have read from a few ladies the same scenario and the babe caught up around 9 weeks. I'm sorry you are having to stress about this. I will say a prayer that your lil bean grows!
