Q: Cold/flu at 36 weeks.. how did you cope?

I have a severe cold, maybe even flu and I'm suffering really bad.. In the UK doctors or chemists don't let you have anything but paracetamol. Not even allowed the stuff you put up your nose to clean your airways.. anyone got any remedies that work?

My man said I sounded like I could barely breathe last night and was so worried about me. All the coughing and sneezing makes me worrying about my baby too..

I was sick twice during my pregnancy. If you want to go with natural remedies...tea with honey, sit in a steamy bathroom, blow your nose a TON, suck on some cough drops, turn on a humidifier in your bedroom and use plain saline nose spray. That's about all you can do. I was allowed tylenol, diphenhydramine (benadryl), pseudoephedrine and cough syrup (Robitussin or mucinex dm). I was only allowed cough remedies that contained guaifenesin and dextromethorphan. No extra ingredients. Not sure what brands you have there or what you can get otc but they did help if you can get your hands on those. To get to sleep I usually took a benadryl, a dose of cough syrup, put some vicks vaporub on my chest and propped myself up on some pillows. And yes it's a pain to prop yourself up and still try to stay on your side like you are supposed to during pregnancy. It took lots of pillows.

Have you tried a neti pot? It is just a saline solution that you can use to clear out your sinuses, but always does wonders for me. Depending on how stuffy you are it could take a few days to feel relief though.
