I think I need to clarify - I only started getting the pain around the belly button in pregnancy - and for me - it's definitely pain for me and not just uncomfortable - one of the tests the doctor did to ascertain whether it's a hernia is to see if the belly button popped out a little when I coughed - maybe you can ask a friend to have a look at your belly button when you cough?

I too am having the EXACT same feeling that Pbc910 has described. It's more annoying that painful but it is tender.

I could hardly even touch my stomach yesterday at all. I'd be glad if I don't feel that pain again

I have tenderness near my belly button and it often feels completely different than the rest of my belly. However, one of my babies has constantly hung out right around it the entire pregnancy and I now have a head and bottom sitting right near it so I assume the babies' position is making it feel that way. I don't know if I would call it terrible but I can definitely tell you that area is the most tender and when I stand for long periods it tends to feel sore like you describe.

With my pain it is more closer to the belly button - also, the pain is worse on some days than others...sometimes I am pain free for about 5 days before I feel pain again - and I have been advised that I must not lift heavy objects and avoid too much bending..
I have been prescribed paracetamol(Tylenol) and Dihydrocodeine - which I only take when the pain gets really bad - I also sometime need a mild laxative if I take the Dihydrocodeine - as it causes constipation
Also - note that umbilical hernias are also more likely if overweight (I am overweight too). Saying that, of course you may have a completely different issue

The pain is coming from about an inch below my belly button. I'm 13 weeks pregnant. They did have to scan cause I'm too overweight for them to catch the babies heartbeat on dopple so things did look ok in there. The pain is dulling down now but my stomach where my uterus now is just feels so sore and tender. :(

You may have an umbilical hernia...
I have had pain around my belly button for some time - initially the hospital had no idea what it was but when I went a second time when a had acute pain - they diagnosed an umbilical hernia. You many have a small hernia around the belly button - by the way it's more likely if you have had other children.
Was seen by a surgeon who advised that my options are limited to pain relief medication until baby is 3-6 months old.
