Q: Is it really unsafe for baby?

My question is, is it really a true danger to have a steak Medium Rare or Medium at a nice restaurant? I ate it like this before I knew I was pregnant, but now that I know I am, I feel guilty if I order it this way. But is it really unsafe, if you order a high quality steak from a nice clean place? If it is, of course I won't eat it that way.

My kids are all fine. I've always had my steaks MR at home and at restaurants etc. Don't think to much into it. Think of all the generations before us. Seafood etc yes be cautious but steak. Your fine. It's not like you eating it blue. Your eating it cooked at MR and M is perfectly fine. My doctor OB would laugh at me if I asked this but I do know him pretty well.

The concern is the increased risk for food poisoning and food borne illnesses. I, personally, will continue to eat my steaks and hamburgers medium rare, provided I know the meat (as in, my dad is a cattle rancher and processes his own beef, so I feel safe eating his beef medium rare). I would NOT eat that way from a restaurant, however.

I would discuss this with your ob and make an informed decision. Personally, I'm comfortable ordering/cooking my steak medium, I'll eat sushi from trusted chefs, soft cheese, etc. It's not like I'm eating these things on a daily basis, but I don't avoid them.
