Q: Which doppler gives you the earliest heartbeat?

I want to get a doppler so I can keep an eye on my baby and also enjoy the heartbeat whenever we want, but some of them don't have the ability to listen until your about 5 months, are there any that you can use from about 8 weeks?? If so where can I get it! I live in NZ which makes it tricky sometimes to get these types of things!

One more thing...Finding a doppler that claims to be able to pick up a heartbeat super early is false advertising. The type of doppler has nothing to do with it...it has to do with whether or not the baby's heart is beating strong enough to emit the waves the doppler will pick up to "hear" and that just doesn't happen until that lil heart is a lil bigger.

There are a few things to keep in mind if you decide to get your own doppler:
1. It may be too early to hear the heartbeat - from what I understand, most doctor's offices don't expect to hear the heartbeat via doppler until around 12wks
2. You may have an anterior placenta which will make it hard to find/hear
3. You might not be able to find it at all and then you'll be freaking out for no reason.

If you can handle the idea of having a doppler and being unable to find the baby's heart beat, I say more power to ya...but if you're the type of person who will easily be scared or paranoid, I'd say hold off getting it until you're at least 12wks.

Sonoline B. Paid 36 dollars for it new online. Came with free gel AND 2 AA batteries. Didn't order headphones (it has a speaker). Best 36 I ever spent!

I really loved my Sonoline B. I think I heard the heartbeat with it the first time I tried which was between 9-10 weeks but it took a long time to find that early on. I used it every few days early on and still used it every once and a while later into my pregnancy just because I loved to hear her little heart beating strong. :) I recommend the Sonoline B and I know a bunch of other ladies on this site had good luck with it as well.
