Q: Inhaled steroids and glucose test

I've been fighting off some kind of horrible respiratory illness and my doc put me on nebulizer treatments (duo-nebs and a nebulized steroid). My concern is that I'm suppose to have my glucose test tomorrow and I'm unsure if inhaled steroids can have the same effect on blood sugar that oral or IV steroids can have (which is to increase levels). Just curious if anyone else has dealt with this.

Hello dear,
I can totally feel your concern, but Inhaled steroids have very low blood absorption. It shouldn't affect a glucose tolerance test. So you don't have to worry about nothing, and can be tension free.
