Q: How to sleep?

I'm 12 weeks 6 days. Most of my first trimester symptoms disappeared about a week ago, but two new symptoms have appeared, both disrupting my sleep. One, I've started having to pee in the middle of the night. Two, I can't get comfortable. This is my first pregnancy, so I'm not showing yet, but I'm very aware of my belly. This week especially, I feel like it's become more pronounced. And so I toss and turn at night because I'm so aware of my belly -- even though there's not much to see there yet! I thought the peeing in the middle of the night was a first trimester symptom, but I'm only just getting it now. And I thought my belly wouldn't affect sleep until the third trimester. Is this normal? Anyone else have these issues? If so, what did you do about them? Lack of sleep makes it hard for me to function, and I have to go to work soon!

For me having to get up to pee in the middle of the night, most nights multiple times, lasted my whole pregnancy. I just got used to it after awhile. I did manage to get more comfortable with an extra pillow or 2. I didn't want to waste my money on one of those giant pregnancy pillows and didn't want it taking over the bed and creating a pillow wall between my husband and I. I preferred to wedge one standard sized pillow between my legs and just under my bump while lying on my side during 1st and 2nd trimester. During the 3rd I added one behind my back too.

Have you looked into getting a pillow to help you sleep at night? I loved mine!
