I think the science of it bringing on labour later in pregnancy is that it irritates your colon and you get general abdominal cramping (Yeuch!) But if you eat only a little or eat a certain amount all the time I can't really see it having any impact.

I read that pineapple in moderation is probably okay, but to definitely limit it during the first trimester. Something about it containing an enzyme that is believed to soften the cervix.

Pineapple was one of the only things I could keep down the first trimester with my daughter. I probably ate a whole pineapple every week. I had a textbook pregnancy have a healthy, beautiful girl who didn't seem to be affected one bit by the fruit!
I don't know about the science of it. But my experience says it's just fine. Maybe ask your doc if there any validity to it? I think I remember hearing pineapple induces labor late in pregnancy. Like one of those old wives tales of how to get things moving along if you're overdue.
