Q: First OB Appt

Will they perform the vaginal ultrasound during my first OB intake apt at 6 weeks along?

It really just depends on your doctor. They typically only do them that early if there's a question about how far along you are, if you have a history of losses, if you are having bleeding, or to reassure you if you're particularly nervous. But if they do one, it's very possible it will be vaginal since it's hard to see much abdominally so early.

My first appointment was 5 weeks. They did a vaginal ultrasound.

I would be surprised if they do one that early on unless you are high risk or something is wrong. Usually they wait until 8-9 weeks to do the confirmation of pregnancy/viability ultrasound. If they do one that early on they will probably try a vaginal ultrasound. However, I did have one at 6w6d for bleeding that was done trans-abdominal so it is possible.

If the are unable to see on an abdominal ultrasound they will do one. That's what happened to me on friday after I started to spot. The Dr said he saw something but can't be to sure as we are not a 100% sure how far along I am
