Q: Labor soon? Venting a little too lol

Okay so last week I went to the doctor, I was 37.5 weeks and was 1 cm, 50% effaced, cervix completely soft and baby engaged. I have been having real contractions for the past week and a half now, coming at intervals of every 3 min lasting 60-90 seconds for about 4 hours each time. My contractions are getting so strong now that they are waking me up, and having pressure and pain in cervical/vaginal area. I am so aggravated and tired of being pregnant, everyone gets on my nerves the last 3 days lol. I just want to have my baby, and on top of that, my dr told me that my baby was going to be as be as if not bigger than my DD, she was 9lb 9oz and he won't induce me. I just feel like I have no control over my body because he is refusing everything I am asking him to do. I know baby needs to spend as much time in the womb but its obvious this baby is going to be huge and I don't want to have to have an emergency C-section. I just want to cry all the time now, could labor be soon?

Have you tried walking? I was exactly like that with my second baby. On my first baby's birthday i walked like crazy 2 days later i lost mucus plug. I went into labor around midnight (called nurses line and they said it wasn't labor, take tylenol and go to bed) and he was born at 4:13am. I was barely fingertop and not effaced at all before that so i think walking helped me progress. Either way, you are approaching the light at the end of the tunnel! Try to think of it as practice for labor and use those contractions to practice coping mechanisms, relaxation techniques or whatever your plan is. Good luck with everything and i hope you feel better!

I really hope so! I am so irritable and cranky. All I want to do is scream and cry. I don't remember doing this with my daughter. I mean even her cartoons are making me mad lol. I hate feeling this way. I have been such a hag the past 2 days lol. I am so hoping that maybe my hormones are changing from labor coming soon and thats why I am like a PMS atomic bomb lol. Ugh I just want to be my normal happy, good feeling, fun mommy self again......

Hopefully soon! I'm sorry you're so uncomfortable! My SIL had the same thing happen with her second and was told that prolonged labour is more common in subsequent pregnancies - there was an actual name for it that i cant remember (and will likely happen again in future pregnancies if you have more) not sure how accurate that info is though. Also, it's just a guess as to how big they think baby will be. They thought my DS was going to be HUGE and he came out at 7lbs 10 oz :) Good luck! You'll be snuggling your new little one very soon :)
