I forgot to mention that my sister in law went to the doctor the day she went into labor and her cervix was closed tight. Her doctor told her it wouldn't be soon. That night she went into labor and barely made it to the hospital in time to have the baby. Baby came so quickly there was no time for anything but pushing as soon as she got there.
So being dilated isn't an indication. You can start from 4cm like me or from 0cm like my sister in law. Her labor was only a few hours total, and mine took more than a day.

It could be a sign that it is soon, however, I think at 35 weeks I was dilated to 2 cm, by 36 weeks I was dilated to 4cm and I walked around at 4 cm until I went into labor at 38w5d. I didn't start dilating beyond 4 cm until the labor was pretty intense. So it can be an indication that your body is getting ready, but actual labor can still be weeks away.

It's not an indication. With my first I didn't dilate till I was in good pain with contractions and they tried sending me home. My last I was dilated for a bit for a few weeks and had him at 41 weeks. Hopefully you are getting ready to since you are only 35 weeks :)

I had dilated to 1 cm by week 36 when they did the first check, however i was still at 1.5 cm two days before i gave birth. So the start of dilating didn't mean anything for me, but like you said everyone is different. Hope you have a great rest of your pregnancy and get to meet a healthy child soon.
