Q: Working out...Zumba

Am 5 weeks and 2 days along. I have been doing zumba for about 9-10 months consistently and workimg out for about 30 minutes at gym when my teacher is not teaching zumba. Ever since i found out i was pregnant, i dont do the jumps in zumba and the core workout that my zumva teacher does the last 15 minutes of class which includes a lot of planks amd usibg weights. I used to hold 8 lbs on each hand and i now do 6 lbs on each hand. I dont do the planks and i do the squats half way down. I dont even sweat in the class anymore. I really wanna continue zumba. It is a high intensity class. While i want to continue i also dont wanna do anything that can harm the baby especially 1st trimester. I see my ob for the first visit on sept 28 and will ask him. Zumba is like therapy for me. Helps me so much mentally. Do you lasies think it is ok that i do the planks ? And continue zumba? I will be doing some light jogging too.

I know it can be a very horrific thought of losing your child, but over thinking is not at all advisable. Pregnancy is delicate and very sensitive, but nothing is worse than sitting at your bed scared. Your workout regime or zumba dance is no way going to hurt your baby. In fact, even doctors recommend dancing, yoga or gymming if the mothers-to-be have been in to all of that before, too. Indulging in these exercises regime will boost your immunity, save you from the unbearable body aches, and keep your child healthy, as well! Besides, you must never ignore your body indications, never overdo yourself. Makesure you take breaks more often than before, drink more water in between, and put weights not nore than 25 lbs. If you are a beginner, be under an expert supervision and only start with easy exercises and light weights. The moment you feel something wrong, or feel drizzyness, stop right away. There are youtube tutoriald on the same, watch and learn if you can't afford an instructor.

My doctor told me I could do what I did before as long as it wasn't more than 25 lbs or more. But for sure, listen to your body, I notice I run out of breath way easier so I take more breaks, hence, not as good of a workout lol. I do shadow boxing with weights as part of my workout, just a bit more carefully now that I'm bigger. I also do weights with squats, lunges, etc. no worries. Keep it up as ya can :)
