Q: "Location" of baby at 22/23 weeks; worried that something is wrong.....

:) We had our scan a couple of weeks ago-everything was awesome. But its been 7 years since my last baby.......during the U/S, the tech let us know that baby was breached. Which DH said happened previously (I dont remember) but baby is low, very low.....She showed us the location of the baby and all of the "extra" space that there was. I will be 23 weeks and the baby is still below my belly button. Is this normal for the baby to be resting that low? All kicks are lower than my belly, no issues with getting kicked in the ribs. But I seem to be having hard, noticeable braxton hicks. I go tmrw to my OB, I was just curious if I am worrying for no reason...

Thank you! I too had pre-eclampsia during one of my pregnancies-praying I don't have it for this one! Best of luck to you.

If there was anything concerning it would have shown on your ultrasound. For the first couple of trimesters my placenta was sitting really low but they checked it this last time and it has moved up enough that there is room for me to deliver naturally. I'm 29 weeks and my baby was sitting breech as of 2 weeks ago but my midwife said there is plenty of time and space for baby to flip around before delivery. Just try to relax, some babies sit lower and you have lots of time for him to go head down, in fact he will probably do lots of flips between now and then before he settles in the correct position : )

I never even felt a rib kick my entire first pregnancy. He hung out at the bottom my entire pregnancy and i carried to 39wks before I was induced (preeclampsia, not because of him). I think you might just carry low this pregnancy like I did. As long as baby is the correct size and isn't headed for the exit, i think there's no need to worry. I've been having contractions lately too, which surprised me. I'm 23wks but I've read that braxton hicks can start as early as 4 months. We just aren't aware of them just like we aren't aware of kicks until later on. My cervix hasn't changed at all though so it has brought little concern. Just drink plenty of water and rest. A need for water can cause contractions.
