Q: Progesterone shots

Anyone have any info on their experience with progesterone shots? The high risk specialist at the ultrasound place is really pushing them on me, but my Dr says it's not really necessary and she's leaving it up to me. I've read that they're expensive and no guarantee that the baby won't be early anyway. Advice?

I've had them with 2 pregnancy starting at 16 weeks they hurt when you get them and made my hip sore like 2 days and sometimes I'd throw up right after I got them and got head aches with them I didn't like them at all choose not to get them this time I'm 27 weeks now

If there's a chance it might help keep Baby inside, then that's good (assuming he/ she is happy in there!). Sounds like you did okay with your prem baby last time - a healthy weight for their stage of development. I've not had progesterone shots, but I understand they sting quite a lot. It is possible to take pessaries instead, though you'll have to see if this will still keep you at the level you need. Are they thinking it's a lining issue? Progesterone helps with the lining. I have adenomyosis and that carries a risk of early labour. I haven't been told there's anything much that can be done to help if all goes amiss, though!

My last baby was born at 35 weeks, after my water broke unexpectedly. I never had any cervical issues though. All my boys were early, but he was the earliest. He was still 6 1/2 pounds though! Lol He did fine too.

I've read about them and it says it may help if you have a short cervix and are only having one child and if you have had a prem baby before and also the side affects are the same as being in your first trimester of pregnancy Hun but it's up to you it may help
