Good evening everyone,
I think that you are surely over thinking about your ultrasounds. I know it is very natural behaving the way that you are, stressed and tensed about any thing that you feel within your body or sime tests like ultrasounds. No doctor will ever recommend you anything that can possibly be harm to you and your child. Ultrasound in this or any case is nothing to be worried about. It is in fact the safest way to make sure that every thing is fine within your body and the fetus. An ultrasound can never be dangerous for you or anyone else. You need it to listen the heartbeats of your child, and to make sure that he is living in a healthy enviroment inside your womb. If you keep stressing about things like an ultrasound, you are really hurting your child. Keep your calm and follow whatever is it that your gp offers you to do. He would never think of hurting your child. An ultrasound is just a method of looking beyond your skin within your womb, so kindly relax.

If you have a medical reason to, yes, just do it. It's more important to check how baby is doing if there is a concern. No risks are known. To be safe, avoid unnecessary ultrasounds.

Yes you should get an ultrasound when the doctor requests it. You can determine so much about the baby from them. They wouldnt do it if it wasnt safe.

My father worked for GE for many years developing the ultrasounds (he worked on the internal ultrasounds and helped develop the 4D ultrasound machines - yay Dad!). I asked him the same question with my first pregnancy. He told me they're perfectly safe, but the baby does notice them (which is why your baby will tend to move around more when you're getting the ultrasound done). So yes, if your doctor orders them, get an ultrasound. But if it makes your baby uncomfortable, maybe pass on the optional 4D ones.
