Q: Advice/Information regarding "low laying placenta/placenta previa"

In October we had our 20wks 5 days scan..Today at 26 weeks 6 days I went for an appointment to be told that they want an ultrasound Monday to recheck my cervix. At the 20 week scan it was showing that the placenta was laying low/close to my cervix. He did not specify "placenta previa"-that is what I saw each time I googled.

I assume that because they did not rush me, but are waiting until Monday that it cannot be too big of an emergency, however I am slightly concerned. I have read that majority of the time it will fix/adjust itself by the 3rd trimester. This is our 4th, and I only had complications with my 1st (pre-eclampsia 2003).

I had some spotting with this pregnancy; usually after intercourse, so I never was concerned. I have been experiencing braxton hicks (which again I read is normal and he assure

I am currently 22 weeks 4 days pregnant and at my 20 week ultrasound they found out that my placenta was covering the cervix partially. Really hoping it moves out of the way as well. I think because it was covering it a bit, my midwife put me on pelvic rest. No sex, no lifting above 10-15lbs, take it easy pretty much. I haven't had any bleeding or spotting, just pressure when standing long periods of time. Crossing fingers placenta moves out of the way. I really do not want a C-section if I don't need it. Good luck with you as well :) I am sure it will be fine.

My placenta was low lying as well, but my midwife didn't seem concerned about it, said it was pretty common and it almost always fixed itself. When I went back at 27 weeks they did an ultrasound and it showed that my placenta had moved up so all is good now. From what I understand the worst case scenario is that it doesn't move up and you have to have a C section, which would stink but wouldn't be the end of the world.
