I was already a couple of cm when I started using it but it is a synthetic prostagland by theory as my doctor said it's like the natural supermarket which has been shown to soften a cervix..... I took them at 36 weeks as instructed by my doc because of kidney stones I was already 3 cm with 60% effaced I had him less than a week later . I'm dealing with stones again this time and was told the same thing so plan on using it again

So hard to know for sure (just got mine in the mail today) but with my last pregnancy (first time using it for cervix) I started dilating on my own weeks before labor. With my first two I didn't dilate till active labor. With my last I was 6cm by the time we got to the hospital. I was also drinking raspberry leaf tea. Problem was at the hospital I only dilated 1cm and that was in 6 hours so doc had to break my water to get me going. So, while I was dilated my labor didn't progress as well as it should have. So it's hard for me to know if the tea slowed me down or if it was all just coincidence but like I said I dilated that far that early, but doc had to get me through the finish line. Once he broke my water the baby came in 20 minutes and no more than 4 pushes. I'm wondering myself whether to use it all again or not as I don't like to linger. Also my son came a week late and my other two were early so hard to say about pros and cons at least in my case :)
