Q: Heartbeat seen but can't measure at 8 weeks 5 days

We can see the heart beating away but the Dr can't seem to pick it up on the machine. Doesn't help that it could be two and one is hiding but should I worry about it at all? We seen the heart beating two weeks in a row. I am one the plus side does that make it difficult?

Hopefully, you will see more at your next scan.

Merely being overweight shouldn't make a difference. However, if you are obese or severely obese, it could make a difference.

I had wondered if my fat was making it hard for me to feel quickening (19w) but my sonographer laughed and said I wasn't fat. (I'm normal range ,but no gym bunny.) It turned out that I have an anterior placenta which is muffling forward movement. My scan, however, was very clear. The sonographer mentioned she'd a had a lady in earlier with a BMI of 47. I asked if she'd been able to obtain a clear scan. She said: "No, not really. But we have to try."
