Q: 34 Weeks and TONS of rib pain

I will be 34 weeks tomorrow and my ribs are KILLING me...mainly my left side, but they both hurt. I have a hard time sleeping because thy feel like they are splintering. It stops hurting if I'm on my back, however, I can only lay on my back for about five minutes. Tylenol does not help, hot pads do not help...I wake up just crying some nights...anyone have any other suggestions???

Sounds very painful.

bellybelly.com.au has an article with some helpful ideas. Search 'rib pain' to find the article.

Apparently, you might get some relief after 36 weeks when baby drops into position for birth.

A physio exercise is mentioned. Worth trying!

As are posture while sitting/ standing, swimming to stretch out your body, heat/ cold packs, walking and cutting out food that causes inflammation.

But see your doc for help/ referral to physio if things are really bad (and they sound like they are!)

I have had back pain every night from 11 weeks and only just asking for a referral now for physio at 20 weeks. I guess I thought it might get better with yoga/ swimming/ walking etc. I'm worried it will just get worse. Good luck.
