Q: 6wks cramping and sharp abdominal pain.

I'm 6wks and I have been cramping and having some sharp pain in my lower abdomen. I've had a miscarriage before and I am so scared that it's going to happen again. There hasn't been any blood or spotting just the cramps. Any words of encouragement would be great. I'm a nervous reck.

Sorry to hear you are having this. Around 6w, I had a bleed and thought it was all over. I was told to have bed rest and was scanned about a week later. Baby was there! We saw the heartbeat and the embryo sac and everything was just fine. The first trimester is the riskiest time, but each day and week you pass, your odds of a healthy full term pregnancy increase. If you are worried, contact your doc. Here in the UK, we have an Early Pregnancy Unit in all major hospitals and they are great at seeing you promptly if you are at all worried. You can even self-refer. Not sure where you are in the world, but if you are worried and you can afford the health care, go and get checked out.
