Q: Low HCG level

I have had 2 miscarriages in the last year so I am a bit on edge. I am almost 5 weeks pregnant and my levels are only at 150. I go in for another test tomorrow. I should mention these levels were provided to me on Tuesday.

As you get further along in pregnancy and the hCG level gets higher, the time it takes to double can increase to about every 96 hours.
Caution must be used in making too much of hCG numbers. A normal pregnancy may have low hCG levels and result in a perfectly healthy baby. The results from an ultrasound after 5 -6 weeks gestation are much more accurate than using hCG numbers.
An hCG level of less than 5 mIU/mL is considered negative for pregnancy, and anything above 25 mIU/mL is considered positive for pregnancy.

Hello, Everyone,
I am so sorry for the 2 of your miscarriages, dear. Seriously, it is the most terrible that can happen to a mother. I can't put into words the pain and regret this horrific situation can cause to a mother. But, I would also like to congratulate you for conceiving successfully the third time, and, hopefully, the baby remains safe and touches. Coming back to your question, first what we as being women must understand is that our body gets tired, too. For instance, you mentioned about undergoing 2 successive miscarriages and still managed to get pregnant again, what happens is that our bodies lose endurance and sustenance to maintain a healthy living condition for itself, and, worse for the baby growing inside. This is the first reason for miscarriage during the middle of a pregnancy. Another thing is stress, that can again lead to a tired and overwhelmed body, and, hence an unhealthy home for the baby. So, I would first ask you to make your body rest a little.

Thank you both for responding to me. I reached on on Friday to speak with my provider due to me knowing how my body works and they ignored me and sent me on my way. Sunday morning I started to experience cramping, bleeding and the passing of blood clots ( sure signs of a lose ). The doctors office at this time have not reached out to me for a follow up :-(

So, I would first ask you to make your body rest a little. Too much of stress can be harmful to your body as well as to the baby growing inside you. Now talking about your HCG levels, I am afraid the level you mentioned in the post is relatively lower than the expected numbers. Generally, the HCG levels are at their peak and the highest during the duration between 2nd and 3rd month, and as you have entered into the 2nd month, the total level of HCG are quite low as they should have been. I would suggest, you visit your gynecologist and discuss the same with her. To help with the same she might suggest you take an HCG supplement. As HCG is very much needed during the pregnancy, their low levels can be indicative of something unusual with your pregnancy, and, as you have a history of 2 miscarriages in the past, I would suggest you take extra care and consult your doctor on any unusual happening. Precaution is better than cure. Thanks and take care.
