Q: Trying to conceive but have not been getting a period for over a year.

Haven't been on a contraception pill or injection for like two years now after having issues with fibroids( had was removed with lazer treatment), I was put on a pill for two months though just to regulate. My last period was last year June. For the last two months I have been getting sick in the evening which made me test myself for pregnancy but test were negative about a week ago after intercourse I spotted which made me think of an infection but it took place twice and there is no bleeding. Tender breast have been there for like a month now as well. I also started having slight back pain and a pelvic cramp and feeling of it being heavy need to know what this could be and should I worry? Before spotting I would have discomfort during intercourse which also no longer takes place.

Hello Olivia,
I am inclined to agree that you should have visited a gynaecologist long ago! Given that you are trying to get pregnant, one of the very first things to do these days is to have an overall OB/GYN consult and inform your doctor that you are trying to get pregnant. I say this because, most of us these days most certainly have some sort of hormonal imbalance or another, attributed to our lifestyles. So, getting a gynaecologist consult before you even start can be very helpful to sort out issues in real time. However, since you seem to be complaining of tenderness in the breast and some spotting and the lack of menstruation for a year, you need to seriously start getting your health in order by first, getting an overall health check up and visiting your gynaecologist with all your test reports. consider also eating well and on time, maintaining ideal weight and regular mild exercise. but to the OB/GYN first! Live healthy and stay healthy! Good luck Olivia!

Hi Olivia,
I really wonder why you haven't seen a gynaecologist unti now? Not having periodcfor as long as an entire year, is one big a deal! I am sorry to have said this, but this is vrry irresponsible behaviour of you. Not having periods for an entire year could be indicative of several complications. Before you jump onto any conclusions, i would suggest you to visit your gybae doctor as soonbas possible. One must not be so ignorany about happenings within their own body. This is your home, keep it healthy, and take care of it. This could be indicative if vaginal infection, and ovarian cancer, as well. I hope nothing of it is true, and wish you a healthy life.
