Q: Bloody show or Blood from Cervical Exam

Yesterday I wen to the hospital because i was having really bad contractions all night. Once i got to the hospital i was put on the monitor, and the midwife checked my cervix. She said i was 1 cm and 50% effaced and that she was going to send me home because my contractions were 12 mins apart. (They eventually stopped). All morning and into the evening i had no discharge and everything seemed normal. At around midnight i went to the bathroom and when i wiped it was brown discharge. I was thinking it was my "bloody show" but i am not sure because i just had the cervical exam. What do you think ladies? Do you think it was just the exam or was it the bloody show?

I think that was just an exam. That was not a bloody show. The reason is that because if that would be a bloody show. You'll feel very much pain in that area. I know about it. I personally experienced it once. That's why I can tell you. Doctors made the right decision sending you home. the reason was same as you mentioned. Your contractions were 12 mins apart. You are feeling very much contractions. Please ask your doctor to tell something about it. Because this doesn't seem right. It's very much painful. Other than that. That was just an effect of cervical exam. Don't worry everything is great. It's totally normal. Just make sure that you take proper diet and all medicines on time.

Thats your blood, not baby's. When dr or nurses check the cervix, it is to be expected that some people do have a little blood come out.

I’m not sure, but I will say that when I had my cervix examed last week (I’m 2cm and 75% effaced)... I had a bit of brownish and pinkish discharges for a day. My OB told me to expect that and it was normal.
