Spotting bubs Gender at 13 weeks on U/S

Category: Trimesters - Second Trimester

Hey ladies,

I know this can be a really hard thing to do at such an early stage, BUT i have noticed that each gender DOES look different at this stage.

Does anyone know how to pick the difference?

From what I remember from the ultrasounds with my daughter was they said that at an early stage boys and girls may look very similar, but what they are looking for is the "3 lines" if it's a girl. I know at my 13 wk u/s they didn't even look, they said the baby is too small at that age and they wouldn't be able to tell.

Usually you'd think it would be easy to spot a boy, but I think early on both boys and girls and parts that stick out. I remember when they were checking with my daughter they were pretty convinced it was a girl (this was at about 17 weeks) but then they got a mysterious picture of what looked like a boy so they couldn't say for sure... it was just a weird angle, but even further along sometimes it's hard to tell...

Ive heard of this 3 lines or 3 dots thing.

I was looking at a friend U/S and she is having a girl and she has the exact same 3 dots i have on my U/S i have uploaded it to have a look, and since i have reaserched so much boys don't have this 3 lines or dots?

I dunno its all a bit confusing.

They say at this stage of the pregnancy it is the angle of the "nub" boys "nub" sits at a 30degree angle to the spine and girls sit parrallel to the spine

I found out today we are having a boy :D

you couldn't miss it every time she was anywhere near the area his doodle was in full view lol

you can tell this early it just isn't as accurate then say your 20w ultrasound
but it is still 80%+ accurate
and there is only like a 3% chance of mistaking a girl for a boy
so I'm pretty certain but there is still a very slim chance we are wrong lol
but I'll let you judge by the pic :P

I think that the nub on a boy is up at 30 degree angle from spine and a girls is straight out.

I have in my US pics a nub pic at 13 weeks. I am still undetermined though. I have got mostly girl guesses on it.
I am 16 weeks now and still don't know the baby's sex yet.

We too had our NT scan yesterday with baby #4. It was cool to see how much the baby has grown since the 8 week scan. Everything looks good and of course I could not resist to ask for a nub shot of our little one. The super nice tech spoke in code as to not possibly lead us down the wrong road, but he lead us to be open to the possibility of a baby girl =)
