Water Birth

I want to have a water birth so bad! I delivered my first 2 babies at a hospital and I really want to avoid that again.
A water birth is very appealing to me and seems so peaceful compared to the cold, sterile, hussle and bussle of a hospital room where everything is treated like an emergency waiting to happen.

If everything is right in this pregnancy and no complications that will be my plan.

In two weeks I am an ultrasound apt to rule out placenta previa. I had it in my first pregnancy and spent 3 1/2 months bed rest in the hospital for it. I hope I do not have it again!

Hello

I think a water birth sounds lovely too and I think I will ask about it.

I really want as natural a birth as possible and have bought myself a couple of CD by Dr Gowri Motha - Prepare for a natural birth with Self-hypnosis and Visualisation and a labour CD.

I haven't listened to them yet but I will let you know what I think.

I have had two water births and loved them. Ill be doing it again with this baby as well. The water really helped to relax other parts of my body so that all my focus could be on the contractions . Its a much gentler way to give birth and very low key at least it was for me . It doesn't take all the pain away but does help to take the edge off . The biggest thing you can do though is prepare yourself mentally for the natural labor because even if the birthing tub sounds great now you may get there and its too hot or you just cant stand it so trying other things is really important. Also no amount of books or anything anyone else says will help if you have doubts in yourself , you have to know you can do it and just do it... Though i totally recommend water births there awesome!!

I had a water birth with our first in our living room and it was great. I loved how as soon as I got into the tub the pressure seemed to lessen and it was easier to relax. I had a feeling I would like it because I had been doing water aerobics and loved how I felt weightless in the water. I will be trying it again with this one.

Daisy, medicaid will only cover a water birth if you have a birth in a Birth Center or at home while attended by a Certified NURSE Midwife. The CNM is key ;)
