About Me

Our first baby, Poppy was diagnosed with a heart defect and Down's Syndrome when I was 20 weeks pregnant. We were advised to end the pregnancy and she was born asleep at 22 weeks on 31st October 2012.

Four cycles of TTC later and we got an early BFP on a Clearblue Digital on 10th April 2013. We're now pregnant with a rainbow baby. This was also the first cycle of trying after Poppy's EDD on 6th March 2013.

I'm 24 years old, a student social worker and I live in Manchester. My OH is 23 years old (4 months younger than me and never lets me forget it!) and a Year 1 primary school teeacher.

My Birth Plan

It is too early for me to think too much about a birth plan right now. I have a little bit of a pregnancy plan up to 20 weeks though:

7-8 weeks: Early scan to check dates look accurate
10 weeks: Harmony test in London
12 weeks: Harmony test results in London and screening to confirm (12 week scan)
18-20 weeks: Anomaly scan

After that I might try to relax a bit more. Currently I'm panicking about everything that could possibly go wrong but I'm trying to relax. I'm not doing too badly really.

I was thinking about a home birth but maybe I'd rather me in a birthing centre and have a waterbirth if I can. I'll decide on all of that when the time comes though.
