About Me

Postpartum:

Mrs Bradley is transferred to the postpartum unit in stable condition.

1. If you are the RN caring for her upon transfer, after hearing report, are there any specific areas of concern that you will take with you on your initial assessment?

2. What will your initial assessment include after you receive report?

Later in the day, Mrs Bradley calls and reports significant pain in the perineal area. She is rating her pain at a 5/10.

1. How would you respond to this complaint of pain?

Mrs Bradley, states that every time she puts the baby to the breast, she just falls asleep. She also states that she is worried that the baby is not getting enough, and asks,” I don’t think I am making enough milk”.

1. Based upon normal physiology of a woman on day #1 after birth, how would you respond to her concerns?
