I can't find the May group on fb. Do you still have the group up?

Thank you!! I will have my AAS in May, but I'm moving on to get my BSN, so I will be completely done with school in 2014...whooo, that seems so far away! lol It's hard, especially with a 2 yr old, a one year old, and pregnancy brain! lol Good luck to you, as well!!

Hi Melissa. First Congratulations on your third little one. I wanted to say that I am there with you with school except I am completing my program and study in Respiratory Therapy graduating in July 2012 countdown of 10 months until graduation for me. When will you be done? Good Luck with your schooling and pregnancy as well =)

Hi dmpage!

Some believe that it is beneficial to the baby to wait to cut the cord until it stops pulsing (usually 10-15 mins). The blood in the cord is very oxygen-rich and is full of antibodies and other "good stuff" that they baby was getting in utero, and should get the rest of after birth! The blood isn't going to do anyone any good if it's just clamped into the cord and tossed out with the placenta! Some studies have even shown that just delaying the clamoing 3 mins is beneficial to the baby!! It's actually really interesting, you should research it a bit!! I wish I had known about this when my other 2 were born, but I wasn't a nursing student then! lol Thanks for asking! Great question!

Hi...can you tell me what the scoop is on having the cord stop pulsing before it's cut? Curious. Thanks!
