Chance Richard Lee's Birth Story

Chance is here! Wow, what a journey we have traveled. I had prodomal labor for a few weeks before my 38 week visit. I had dialated to a five and was 75% effaced on Tuesday 7/7. Doc did a membrane sweep and said if I hadn't gone into real labor by Thursday morning he would induce me. Well after the doc visit my family and I went for lunch at cheddars. We got half way through the appetizer when my contractions started up again. We told the waiter we had an emergency and needed our salads to go. We went home fully expecting to head to labor and delivery and once again the contractions fizzled and I thought, ok, just some more prodomal labor. Around 11 pm the contractions started again and this time I knew they wouldn't stop because of regularity. I timed them for two hours and when they got 7 minutes apart I called my mom to let her know we would be dropping off our 4 year old. Once at the Hospital they monitored me and saw I was contracting every five minutes. I progressed very slowly and endured 16 hours of intense labor. The two epidural (yes two because the first one didn't work and hey, neither did the second) failed and the second one was placed five times and took an hour and a half! Ouch. I received a few shots for pain but no effects from epidural. I hit nine centimeters around 6:30 pm and got to ten in minutes. Pushed for only fifteen minutes and our sweet, perfect little boy was born at 7:08 pm. My pelvis separated 1.6 cm during delivery so my mobility and pain are intense but I would endure it anyday for Chance.
