POSITIVE Induction Stories Please!
By nicolebub » Posted Apr. 2, 2015 2:54am - 949 views - 9 comments

Hello my lovely friends.
Well my obgyn appointment today went great. Everything looks fantastic!
The only one thing is that due to my very small size (dress size of 4 to 6 Australian / 1 to 2 US) and small hips of 32 inches. I have quite a small pelvic bone structure. So the obgyn is now a little bit concerned that bubba may not fit through for a natural child birth.
Now before anyone jumps up and down saying that it will and my body wouldn't grow a baby that wouldn't fit etc, I am the one who is happy to go with induction at 39/40 weeks as my obgyn has said to let him grow too much bigger would almost certainly mean a c-sec.
Its not my ideal plan but baby's safety first!
So, do any of you lovely ladies have some positive stories for me, they can end in a c-section, thats fine... I just want some positives!

Thank you so much ladies. These stories are way more positive than what I've heard (As I'm sure you all know!). I am really confident that things will go well and the extra reinforcement of all your words is very encouraging!!! Thank you!!!!! xxxxxx

My inductions were exhausting, but thankfully the second time we tried the pitocin I went into active labor and actually got to stop the drip because my body took over on it's own. I was in active labor overnight and got to sit in a jetted tub, bounce on a birthing ball, and practice squats before it was time to push. My water had to be broken by my midwife, but I delivered vaginally without an epidural ~24 hours after the pitocin started. I had to push for a long 1.5 hours. It was hard, but very doable. I'm also small boned. 7lb baby. Small tear, no stitches. Great support staff at the hospital and my little one was on my chest right away. Just as I wanted. :)

I also have a very narrow frame and was induced with my son at 39+1. It was a long process for me, but it was successful. They broke my water about 24 hours after the meds were first started and then I went into full labor and about 15 hours later he was born. I really didn't feel anything until shortly after they broke my water, so the first 24 hours were pretty boring and painless. He was 8lbs4oz and I did tear, but I did not need a c-section and was able to do it all on my own. Good luck!

I was induced at 39 weeks 2 days because of high blood pressure. I went in at 8 and began cytotec and was able to labor until I was about 7 centimeters (2:00 pm) until they broke my water then I decided it was time to get an epidural. I had my son that night at 9:51 and it only took 20 minutes to push him out. I know there are alot of bad stories out there but with every person it is a unique experience. Best of Luck!

I was 38w4d and had to be induced due to chronic hypertension. I went in, got hooked up and registered, they started the pitocin, six hours later I was holding my boy. I got an epidural, I only pushed for 20 minutes, I wasn't in much pain (so don't let the Pitocin horror stories scare you), and my boy was perfect in every way. I was 2cm dilated and 75% effaced when I went in for my induction. Don't be afraid! Everything will go well! :) good luck and enjoy the experience! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out :)

I will be reading ALL these comments since I have to be induced at 39+4 due to my immune issues. A coworker was telling me about her induction yesterday with her son. She received some pitocin and 6 hours later her son was born vaginally, perfectly healthy. Made me feel more optimistic about pitocin... I have been gulping raspberry leaf tea and choking down as many dates as I can since my doula said both can help thin the cervix, induce some contractions, and get things going. Good luck!!!

My little sister is 5'1", size 2 and just a petite little thing, married to a 6'4" giant of a man. She had all three of her babies vaginally, two of them 8lbs, the middle one was 9'14oz!! All about 41 weeks and she wasn't induced, but had no problems. Help out your induction by taking some evening primrose oil and raspberry leaf tea and try to get your body ready early so the induction will only kickstart it. You'll be fine! Good luck!

I was induced with my first at 41+6 weeks as I had zero signs of labour starting anytime soon. I was upset that it had come to induction as I had been planning on a natural birth. Luckily I was still able to have my natural/low intervention birth - they only had to break my water to get everything going.

I am also somewhat smaller framed (although not as small as you :) ) and my little one was 7lbs 10oz at birth.

GL!
