40w2d update failed sweep =(

Seems like we're looking at a failed sweep. Doctor performed sweep on Wednesday morning. I've been spotting since then and lots of contractions but they won't stay consistent and are not getting any stronger. I'm not really surprised, it didn't work with my last baby and I didn't really expect it to work this time either, but I was really hoping I wouldn't go overdue. My next appointment is on Wednesday if I don't have the baby by then (I really hope I do though) and the doctor will set an induction date. I just wanna cry thinking about it. I just wanted to have a natural labor without pitocin. =(

I've been resting a lot. That's actually when my contractions are the worst is when I'm just sitting around. But I feel so restless and it's hard to breathe so I just wanna be moving. =(

There was absolutely no reason for them to keep me on pitocin during both of my previous labors. My heart rate and baby's were fine during both labors. It got a little scary towards the end with my first but it's just because they kept losing her on the monitor, once they put one on her head they saw that her heartrate was fine. During my second labor I begged them to turn it off and they didn't. And never told me why it was necessary except that they felt I wasn't progressing. Even though they only gave me a couple hours to progress naturally after they broke my water before they started doing the pit

You still could...lots of time before next wednesday. Since you are so active, resting and stretching and getting into the mindset might help. I'm crossing my fingers for you for a natural labor start. And if you need to be induced, you might only need a little push and not any sustained pitocin. Now that I've had pit twice, both with failed epidurals, I completely understand wanting to avoid it. Horrible contractions. Hopefully they can just break your water and get it started since you'll be after your due date. We're all rooting for you!
