OB Appointment and Induction
By Mem401 » Posted Aug. 23, 2018 8:40pm - 632 views - 9 comments

I'm 33 weeks and 4 days now and everything is still going well. Maggie is good. She's getting better at kicking, punching and elbowing everyday!

I had an OB appointment today. Their scale said I've gained another 3 pounds, but it is a different kind of scale than the one my MFM uses, so I'll use my MFM weight as the official. (I have an MFM appointment tomorrow.) My blood pressure was good. No swelling, no problems with urine. Maggie's heart rate was 144. Measured perfect. But my OB threw me for a loop when she came in and said, "Let me go check my calendar to see when we can schedule your induction." I was like "What?!" Wasn't expecting that today. She said she prefers to induce between 37-38 weeks with me being diabetic, but unfortunately she didn't have any availability those weeks. So we are VERY tentatively scheduled to be induced on October 4th. She said her schedule is*probably* going to change because they have another doctor out on leave, so it is VERY, VERY tentative. Plus I told her that I'm okay with another one of their doctors (whom I've been seeing the last month) delivering. So my normal OB is going to check her partners schedule and see if they can't move it up. That will change too if Maggie has a massive growth spurt. I should get another measurement tomorrow, and if she has jumped very far from the 57th percentile where she was last time, it may be sooner by necessity.

I'm super excited. I like the idea of knowing exactly when things are going to happen, but I wasn't about to ASK to be induced because I understand that not knowing is part of pregnancy. But my diabetes makes induction more important.

Another factor that I discussed with my OB today is that since last weekend Maggie has been putting a WHOLE lot of pressure on my cervix and intestines. (I constantly feel like I have to poop.) I asked my OB if all that pressure could be thinning out things down there and she said yes. So at my next OB appointment they will check my cervix and see if it is. Maggie may induce herself early...

Anyway, So maybe October 4th, maybe earlier? We'll see. :)

I really wanted all the excitement of going into labor by myself but it didnt work out that way, which wasn't too bad! Lol. I'm glad they are being proactive about her health and yours as well. Just a few weeks, have a feeling itll be sooner than later, she was a big girl even a few weeks ago!
