One more week....then it's stripping time!
By Bostonmama08 » Posted Feb. 28, 2014 3:10pm - 554 views - 9 comments

At my doctors appointment today she confirmed I am 2cm and 80% effaced, baby weighs around 8 pounds and she asked if I'd like my membranes stripped to get labor started. I said no.....BUT.....if I was still pregnant by next Thursday we could do a membrane sweep. I'd prefer NOT to have a huge baby being a small framed woman....and if this baby is ready, he's ready! I'm not opposed to a little natural intervention (membrane sweep) but did refuse any medicine (Pitocin). So....looks like our baby will either be here by next Thursday without the sweep (please please fingers crossed!) or maybe by next weekend with a sweep.

EEEk you are so close! I logged in to check on you and a couple ladies. I honestly thought you would have given birth. But look at you 39 weeks!

I must confess that at this point, I login to this site purely to check in on your progress. :) I am so happy you've made it! I predict your son will arrive next Wednesday, at 39w2d. Regardless, he'll be here in no time! Congrats!!!

My husband got it for me at the regular grocery store. I don't think you need to go anywhere special. The same company that makes the Mothers Milk tea makes it.

I'm waiting until I'm full term, of course...but I plan on doing evening primrose oil and red raspberry leaf tea in the few weeks before delivery. I also read that eating 6 date fruits per day starting at 35 weeks helps...I can't remember why though!
Don't stress about the weight...they told me I was going to have an almost 10 pounder...my son was born at 7 pound 8 ounces!

I did raspberry leaf tea at 38 weeks with both of my previous pregnancies. Both of my boys were born with in 24 hours. I fully plan to do it again this time as soon as the dr says my princess is ready.

you can find it pretty much anywhere but especially health stores like Whole Foods, etc...Also Evening Primrose oil I've started using which helps soften the cervix and prepare for delivery. I'm only a couple of days behind you! Good luck

Where do I get this tea??!

Raspberry leaf tea. I know they say it doesn't actually induce labor, but I'm not so sure. While I was pregnant with Ronen, I had been reading about it, that it helps tone the uterine muscles to make contractions more effective and you should drink it during the last few weeks of pregnacy. Since I really didn't want to push for 3 hours like I did with both of my first two, I had my first cup ever the day I turned 35 weeks, (never drank it with the other two) and my water broke the next morning, not 12 hours later, 5 weeks early! Coincidence, maybe, but I would try it if I were you. Never thought I'd be advising you on how to start labor though. Everything you did to keep him in there sure paid off it looks like! Lol
